SINGAPORE SLING (Iceland)
Singapore Sling is a darkly psychedelic band from Reykjavik, Iceland. They are inexplicable and elusive but remind one of the drugged out soul power bands like Jesus and Mary Chain and My Bloody Valentine. Their debut album, “The Curse Of Singapore Sling”, came out in Summer 2003. It has gained fans from all over the globe. Their leader is singer-songwriter-guitarist Henrik Björnsson, also known from the band Dead Skeletons.
“If Iceland has among its many (musical) voices a rock voice, its the one of Singapore Sling.. a sound dear to My Bloody Valentine, Sonic Youth and all those bands that approach music with bad intentions and a sideways grin.“
–Carlo Zambotti, SLURP MAGAZINE, Milan, May 2007
WALL OF DEATH (FR)
Wall of Death, together since April 2010, is now ranked among the principal exponents of the new European post-psychedelic rock scene.
Inspired by the scintillating understatement of the Velvet Underground, the esthetics of Pink Floyd, the stridency of Neu and the Silver Apples, this trio of Gabriel Matringe (vocals, guitar, sitar), Brice Borredon (keyboard, vocals) and Adam Ghoubali (drums) draws us into their somber, troubling world of uncertainty, perpetually seeking the keys to its future in the ruins of the past.
With roots extending from America to old-world European culture, Wall of Death creates a sound that is powerful, heavy, haunting and visionary.
A synthesizer reaching deep into the bass register, an acid-tinged guitar drenched with echo, a warm-toned organ and violent drums combine with voices that range from soaring to fathomless, creating a masochistic yet flamboyant universe in which this group heals its collective wounds.
THE LUCID DREAM (UK)
The Lucid Dream were formed in 2008.
The band have supported the likes of The Magic Band (of Captain Beefheart fame), Spectrum (featuring Sonic Boom, founder member of Spacemen 3), Crocodiles, and The Aliens.
‘Hits Me Like I’m Stoned’ was released on 7″ vinyl in June 2012, selling out within a week. A full UK tour support to ‘A Place To Bury Strangers’ coincided, as well as support to Death In Vegas.
