Something You Said
The Blog That Celebrates Itself (interview)
Arirang was born in Milan in 2013 as a trio, formed by Marco Mercuzio Peron, Francesco Mariani and Giacomo Carlone.
Freedom is what drives them, freedom from given frames, genres and categorizations. Although Arirang carry influences from post-rock, shoegaze, electronic, grunge and post-punk, all of them are constantly mashed up through a deep love for experimentation and borders-crossing: often the tracks mutate towards forms recalling soundtracks for silent movies and documentaries about wild and yet unexplored lands, or you could imagine bodies dancing to it like in a Pina Bausch’s choral performance.
Installations and images on stage connect the instruments to lights and strobes, creating a dense atmosphere of moods-sharing between the players and the audience.
Arirang have been already featured on a compilation by Patetico Recordings (California), alongside APTBS.
