Needle and the Pain Reaction is an energetic dark groovy sonic guitar grunge punk band from Gent, Belgium. More then 15 years active in the underground scene, they’re known for their DIY approach, their strong live reputation, their legendary guerrilla concerts and European and Canadian tours. Their main influences are bands as The Jezus Lizard, Metz, Helmet, Afghan Wigs, TAD.
Their 4th album “Porcupine” is particularly aggressive and more energetic than before. Everything was recorded, mixed and produced by Peter De Bosschere (drums) and Luc Waegeman (bass), then mastered by Frederik Dejongh (Jerboa). The raw comic strip designs and texts come from the infamous notebook of Wim Deliveyne (vocal, guitar). The release came in 2016 for Belgium and in February 2017 is getting finally full European distribution. The vinyl edition includes free download code also for “Paper Trails”, album  which features 5 tracks and a selection of the rough, played live improvisation jams in the band’s own studio from the period 2010 to 2015, the time of preparation for “Porcupine”. It’s almost entirely instrumental tracks that reflect very well the typical dark Needle’s atmosphere, spontaneously captured during their working sessions.
Needle & the Pain Reaction have also composed the music for “Sumpfland”, a piece by the theatre group Studio Orka, presented at the Rurhtrienale in 2016.
The band is available for gigs and tours in Europe from May onwards and through all 2018.
