CLUSTERSUN are widely considered to be one of the pillars of the shoegaze/psych/post-punk scene in Italy and have established themselves as one of the most promising acts in the international panorama of fuzz & reverb purveyors.
Their cosmic and 3D signature sound delivers massive walls of fuzz, otherwordly reverberations and psychedelic trips, mixing influences from My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, The Jesus And Mary Chain, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Spacemen 3, The Black Angels, Dead Skeletons, The Telescopes, A Place To Bury Strangers.
The band, featuring Marco Chisari (vocals & bass), Mario Lo Faro (guitar) and Andrea Conti (drum & backing vocals) extensively toured Europe in support of their latest and third album Avalanche, released in May 2021 via Icy Cold Records (FR) and Little Cloud Records (US), with mix and mastering by sound guru James Aparicio (Mogwai, Spiritualized, Depeche Mode, Nick Cave’s Grinderman, The Cult Of Dom Keller, Throw Down Bones) and an iconic cover artwork painting by Marco Baldassari (founder of italian psych heavyweights Sonic Jesus).
Avalanche was highly praised and ranked among the best releases of 2021 on various Italian and foreign magazines, enhancing the band’s international status after two other successful albums (Out Of Your Ego from 2014 and Surfacing To Breathe from 2017 ), tours in Europe and in the United States, as well as contributions in many compilations issued by the most important psych-gaze labels in the world.
Avalanche tour took Clustersun on key stages in front of a growing fanbase, as Supersonic in Paris, Loophole in Berlin, Psychedelic Umami Fest in CZ, with the Mountain Sound Festival planned in June ’23, alongside The KVB, Throw Down Bones, Giobia.
On top of a classy songwriting, the trio from Catania proved to be one of the rare acts able to not just showcase their sounds, but to engage any audience in a cathartic experience, making every gig a unique happening in which the band and the public are both involved in a sweating, sabbathical and rejoycing chaos.
Clustersun are currently working on songs for their next album, and are likely going to premiere some of them in the forthcoming shows.
